"A Short term mission trip can drastically change your life! I went on my first mission trip on 2004, and was teaching martial arts full time. In 2009 (5 years later) I was called to full time foreign missions" David L. Sgro
If we're honest, most Americans don't see themselves as "rich". We see ourselves as "Middle Class", or "Upper Middle Class", or "Poor". But when we leave the United States we quickly realized just how finically blessed we truly are. On the mission field we find out how quickly "what works in the US doesn't always work abroad" and we find ourselves needed the Lord from a different perspective. We "need" the Lord, and His guidance everyday, and this becomes very apparent on the foreign mission field. Our American "World View" says "9am is when the big hand is on the 12 and the little hand in on the 9, and I can map out, and plan everything in my day". And we find out very quickly our "watches" and "schedules" come second to reality outside of the US. God can and will still use us and work through us, but we have to "let go of our US mindset", and see Guatemala for how it is. it is beautiful, full of people who love the Lord, and many who still need to meet the Lord, and THAT'S why we're there. So, we learn to be flexible We're so use to our daily routines that often we've allowed our spiritual senses to grow dull, or even fall asleep. On a short term mission trip we are often awoken to how powerful God truly is and how much we need Him every minute of our lives. Faced with overwhelming need, poverty that challenges our senses "right and wrong", and intense spiritual opposition, we quickly view prayer once again as essential and powerful. Prayer takes on a sharper spiritual dimension. We are so used to life in the US, with everything under control. On the foreign mission field we encounter unexpected obstacles and opportunities, the myth of “having things under control” is unmasked for the illusion it is. Control belongs to God alone. My hope is that in changing your environment in a very different way, you also come to encounter Christ in a very real and different way! And I hope you come to realize that deep down inside, we're all the same. We need Christ to save us! Thank you for considering a Short Term Mission Trip. It WILL drastically change your life. Trust me, I know it from first-hand, personal experience!
