Our mission is to bring the light and love of Jesus Christ to the nations, changing our world in His name. We do this through feeding the homeless, teaching English, building a conference center, evangelizing on the streets of villages and cities, loving on orphans and building relationships with new ministries for future World Racers. Really, we do whatever the Holy Spirit leads us to do each month. It’s an epic adventure.

The first World Race squads launched from Mexico in January 2006. Literally knocking on doors and sleeping on streets, it was a raw adventure of faith.  The World Race continues to change. It is expanding overseas and in the States, yet its foundations stay the same. It is a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve "the least of these" while amongst real and raw community. It facilitates discipleship through the process of discovering into the abundant life He promised.

We came into this month excited to impact Guatemala for the Kingdom of God. I do not think any of us realized how deeply we would be impacted by the people of these communities while we were trying to impact them. We came to love widows and orphans, and in the process God grew and softened our hearts for the widows and the fatherless. He then gave us the opportunity to introduce the fatherless to their heavenly Father, the one that will never leave and forsake them. He used us to show the lonely and broken that they are not forgotten, and remind us that we are also not forgotten. He grew our hearts to love these communities deeply, and I believe we are leaving chunks of our hearts here in Guatemala.

“Team Blaze is a team whose sole purpose is to glorify God in all they do. 5. The Half-Dozen Disciples $9.99 (Guatemala 2016)

Imagine arriving in Xenacoj, Guatemala, a very small poor Mayan village 6,500 feet above sea level in the rural mountains of Central Guatemala…where the houses are very tiny with dirt floors, tin roofs, and the mountains and all the trees and plants are the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen. As you walk down the street you’re greeted by everyone you see! You’ll bounce up a dirt road, jam packed into a 15 passenger van to a small village named “Aypan”. Ayapan recently opened up to letting missionaries visit. In fact, David, our Mission Host, was the FIRST MISSIONARY to ever visit this village. Here's the thing, if they don't know who you were, there was a good chance of being attacked, beaten, and even killed.  This village had kill some of it's villagers for help building the road.  2 people were set on fire, one family were hacked to death by "ski mask wearing,  machete-wielding, villagers, at night.

Writing a book in less than 26 days is outright difficult; coupled with feeding children, visiting hundreds of widows and orphans, laundry, blogging, living with many other people! Dealing with culture shock, occasional “Montezuma's revenge”, possible home sickness…and the list goes on and on! But despite all this Atarah Doves team did it! You'll deal with a suicide of a 16 year old girl,  you’ll cry and sit at the foot of a bed and gaze into a widows eyes as she tells you the joys and pains of her life. You'll laugh teaching English and feel the warmth of little children running to fight to hold your hand.

A home school family, with 13 children, sell their Karate School (2010) and move to serve as Missionaries for the Indigenous Mayan people of the mountains of Guatemala, for about 3 years. For about 3 years the Sgro family lived amongst the Mayans at 6,500 ft above sea level.  They were the only American family to ever live in Santo Domingo Xenacoj, SAC, Guatemala.
